General Commands for Device Control
General Device Commands

Most device commands are specific for a certain type of device or even for a certain device. For example, the Flow command is available for pumps and the Inject command is available for autosamplers. However, some commands are available independent of the device type:

 

Command

Description

Connect

Connects the instrument to Chromeleon
(also, see Connected, Disconnect).

Connected

Indicates whether the instrument is connected to Chromeleon, that is, under computer control (also, see Connect, Disconnect).

Disconnect

Disconnects the instrument from Chromeleon
(also, see Connect, Connected).

 

The following commands and properties appear very often. However, they are not available for every device:

Alarm

Reports whether an alarm is pending. Default value: Off.

DriverID

Unambiguous driver name (read-only).

DriverManufacturer

Manufacturer of the driver.

DriverVersion

Indicates the driver version (read-only).

FirmwareVersion

Indicates the firmware version of the instrument (read-only).

Tip:

Firmware files have the extension .hex, e.g., VWD3000.hex. The firmware versions of the available .hex files can be viewed in the IQReport.log file located in the IQ directory of the Chromeleon installation. For detailed information about firmware update refer to the operating instructions of the module.

MainBoardRevision

Reports the main board revision of the connected device.

Manufacturer

Indicates the manufacturer of the driver (read-only).

ModelNo

Indicates the instrument type (read-only).

MuteAlarm

Command to mute the audible alarm.

Ready

Ready indicates that the instrument is ready for operation, i.e., no Autozero is started, the temperature has been reached, no error has occurred.
NotReady
indicates that the instrument is not ready for operation (read-only).

Reset

Resets the instrument to its initial conditions, as attained after power-up.

SerialNo

Indicates the serial number of the instrument (read-only).
